Standing Committee Meeting – 28th april 2007 dublin

The spring Standing Committee Meeting took place in Ireland to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the re-founding of the Irish section.

Fourteen sections were represented at the meeting, and it was pleasing to see delegates from two of our newest sections, Russia and Spain.

The following matters of general interest were covered.
The Chairman reported on the Thailand Tsunami Appeal. Monies donated by Headquarters and Sections had been used to fund costumes for a traditional dance group from a Thai orphanage in the Phuket area who raise money for the orphanage.

In future “five star bars” awarded for attendance at five Championships will be available through section secretaries, who may apply to the Supplies Officer for their supply.

A review of the formal of the Line Class Championship is to be undertaken, proposals to be tabled at the September, Weymouth meeting.

It will be a requirement at future Championships that a competent Official Photographer (preferably professional) be in attendance at the Prize Presentation to ensure that proper winners photographs are provided to Headquarters for publicity purposes.

The retiring Treasurer and Fish Recorder have confirmed that they are prepared to stand for re-election.

Member Sections were reminded that it is a requirement that all competing boats at Championships must display an EFSA Burgee. Provision of suitable plaques would be investigated.

Member section events and information can be added to the EFSA website subject to payment of set-up costs.

A new Shore Championship trophy was presented to the Federation by Libby Walker.

The awarding of an Honorary Life Membership to H.C. Clausen was approved.

The following new Championship venues were approved:

Line Class & Boat Championships 2009  Stromness, Orkney Islands, Scotland.
Species Championship 2009 Plymouth, England  Target species Conger.
Shore Championships 2009 Langeland, Denmark (Organised by EFSA Germany).

The next Standing Committee Meeting will take place in Weymouth, England on the 8th September 2007.

Following the meeting the Officers and Delegates were entertained to a traditional Irish Evening by EFSA Ireland to celebrate their anniversary. Everyone present complemented the section for an excellent weekend.
