Tackle Shop
Just 20 meters from the boats, you’ll find Nyhamn Fiske och Marin (www.nyhamnfiske.se).
The shop will be open both before we leave the harbour each morning and after we return in
the afternoon. They stock a wide range of fishing gear and essentials for this area, so you’ll be
able to find everything you need.

Boats
Fishing will take place aboard the Landskronabåtarna – large, high-standard vessels
operated by Landskronabåtarna.se. These boats are well-equipped for a comfortable day at
sea, featuring onboard toilet and cafe.
With three boats available, there’s room for 100 participants, ensuring plenty of space and an
enjoyable experience for everyone.
Of the three boats available, two are faster than the third. To ensure a fair competition, speed
restrictions will be applied during the event to compensate for this difference.

Fishing in Öresund
Öresund is a well-known fishing destination, popular among anglers, the waters are ideal for
light tackle.

Fishing will take place at depths ranging from 5 to 30 meters. Depending on weather
conditions, we may fish on either the Swedish or Danish side of Öresund.
The target species during the competition will be flounder, plaice, and dab.

Fishing Tackle Recommendations
For optimal results in Öresund, we recommend the following gear:
 Rod: 7–9 ft (2.1–2.7 m) rod with a casting weight of 50–150 grams.
 Reel: Fixed spool or multiplier reel spooled with braided line between 0.18 mm and
0.25 mm diameter.
 Hooks: Sizes 4 to 1/0.
 Tackle: Flatfish are attracted to visual stimuli, so using beads and spinner blades is
effective. The size and colour can be tailored to your personal preference.
 Weights: Lead weights in the 50–200-gram range, depending on drift and depth.
 Rigs: Both paternoster rigs and running traces work well in these waters.

Boat Allocation and Scoring System
Each boat will be divided into two: portside and starboard side. Scoring will follow the 100-
point system. Boats will be randomly assigned in advance, and fishing positions will be drawn
each morning before departure from the harbour.
During the competition, boats will either drift naturally or be held in position using the
current.

Point System
Target species: Flounder, plaice and dab
Scoring will be based on the following rules:
 1 point per flatfish caught
 3 points for a flatfish measuring over 35 cm
We will use the 100-point scoring system, meaning that each boat will have two
winners—one from each side of the boat (port and starboard).
We will not be using clickers during the competition. Instead, we will follow a trusted system
that has been used successfully in Sweden for over 20 years:
 Each angler will receive a large water-filled tub.
 During fishing, place your flatfish into the tub.
 When it’s time to move to a new location, you and your neighbouring angler will
count your fish together and record the totals on your scorecard. Anglers will work in
pairs: positions 1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6, and so on.
 After counting, the fish are released back into the sea.
There will be experienced anglers on each boat to assist with any questions or issues.
Further details will be provided during registration and at the event briefing.
