Weymouth 2014

Sunday the 7th September and the Championship was formerly opened at the HQ hotel, the Rivera Hotel in Weymouth, and the EFSA flag was raised on the flagpole outside the hotel where it proudly fluttered in the variable wind through the week.

Denmark 2013

We had a good Championship week with the sun shining every day except Thursday and there were plenty of fish; in all more than 20.000 fish were caught & released.

Tanger 2012

95 competitors from 13 sections came to Tananger to participate in the 50th anniversary Championships of EFSA. It was Tananger and Stavanger Deep Sea Fishing Club that was the host in 1962 and it was SDSFC that had the pleasure to welcome the 50th European Championships in 2012.

Weymouth 2011

There were a total of 153 competitors from 16 Sections, some of whom had returned to Weymouth after competing in 2007 and previous years plus others who had yet to sample the delights of fishing in this venue. Weymouth is a popular venue not only for national & international angling but also for the pleasure anglers.

Iceland May 2010

Fate played many tricks before EFSA’s annual event finally took place. In addition to the financial woes of the World, Mother Nature decided to join in the fun with volcanic eruptions, ash and cancelled flights all thrown into the fray.

Scotland 2009

Once again, EFSA Scotland has had the privilege of organising the European Championships and, once again, Stromness in Orkney has provided us with an outstanding venue.  Our previous visit, back in 2003 was blessed with exceptionally warm calm weather.

Cobh 2008

The 2008 EFSA Boat & Line Class Championships were held at Cobh, County Cork from the 18th to the 23rd of August. The check-in for the 180 competitors from 14 countries commenced at The Commodore Hotel on Friday night and continued through to Sunday morning.

Weymouth 2007

Summer in England started at the end of March and finished at the end of April and so the prospects of having fine weather in September did not look good. We need not have worried though as high pressure built over Ireland a week before the Championships and extended to cover the UK for the next three weeks. The only problem was the easterly airflow that came with it and the knowledge that fishing is generally not as good in an easterly.

Norway 2006

EFSA Norway can look back on a successful championship in the Line Class and Boat events in Harstad from the 10th to the 15th of July. A total of 135 anglers from 15 countries had sent in their entry forms and were ready for tight lines in the Land of the Midnight Sun

Helsingor 2005

The town of Helsingor in Denmark, north of Copenhagen was the venue for the 2005 Championships. The town is only one mile away from Helsingborg in Sweden across the narrow strait between the two countries at the southern end of the Kattegat and this was where the fishing took place.
