EFSA European Shore Championships in Conwy, Wales 2024.
The EFSA European Shore Championships 2024 were held in Conwy, Wales from October 30 th
to November 2 nd . A total of 33 anglers competed in the championship from 5 Sections: Germany,
Ireland, Norway, Netherlands and Wales, 4 ladies, 1 junior and 28 ordinary. It was a three-day
competition fished from the shores of Llandudno north shore, Llandudno west shore, Colwyn
Bay / Rhos-on-Sea, Penmaenmawr, Llanfairfechan and Abergele Pensarn.
The bait provided was Atlantic Mackerel and Black Lugworm. The fish species caught were
mainly Dab, Flounder and Whiting. Most of the fish were caught on day 1. On day 2 only about
1/3 rd of day 1 catch was caught but very few fish were caught on day 3. No fishing was cancelled,
just very poor fishing in the daylight hence the high number of blanks on day 3 and on day 2. If it
had not been for fishing in the dark, catches would have been very poor indeed. Day 2 venue also
not as prolific as day 1 venue generally. The weather was windless and flat calm, great for the
anglers but not for the fishing.
